East Lansing, MI — Once again Wharton Center is sweeping Times Square and bringing the best of Broadway to East Lansing. The Tony Award-winning play Frost/Nixon starring award-winning actor Stacy Keach; the new musical that’s pure fun Legally Blonde; the inspiring story of hope The Color Purple; the newest production of the all-American musical, Grease; and the winner of eight Tony Awards® Spring Awakening are among a few of the highlights of Wharton Center’s 2008-2009 season.
In addition to an outstanding Broadway Series line-up, back by popular demand are two Wharton Center fan favorites - Broadway’s biggest blockbuster Mamma Mia! for one week only, and a five-week engagement of the breathtaking Disney’s THE LION KING, now in its eleventh sold-out year on Broadway and one of the most successful touring shows on record.Other returns include the Michigan Opera Theatre presenting Georges Bizet’s Carmen.
