"The Dark Knight" was number one at the movies again this weekend and the very funny (yet very adult) "Step Brothers" opened at number 2 followed by Mamma Mia at number 3. And thanks to Ronda for hosting the annual music party Saturday night. It was a fun night of music and food and drink with friends.

Have a great Week!

And if you will allow me two personal notes:
My cousin Ruth is having some medical issues. I love her very much and I know your good thoughts and prayers will help her recover very quickly
And ..
We lost a colleague and a member or our family this weekend. Tim Krueger passed away after and illness. He was one of the driving forces behind Media Matters of Michigan, the parent company of this web site. Tim worked to get our company off the ground several years ago and was an integral part of keeping it going. He died way too young. While our company will go on, it will not be the same without him. Others can do the work, but others will not be able to bring us his smile, his friendship and his positive attitude.

Happy Monday everyone.

The weekend let me know spring is here. Friday night we broadcast my weekly WILS segment with Jack Ebling live from Rum Runners, where the gang was checking out the new “Pubs of Lansing” poster.  Saturday morning I was up early to catch the gang at the Oak Park YMCA get ready for spring with a spruce up of the playground. After finding out some powers that be in East Lansing don't see a need for this web site after I placed lots of announcements about the art fair here, I decided to skip that event and headed to Old Town Saturday afternoon where I am always made to feel welcome. I saw Jamie Schriner-Hooper and her friends planting flowers and just up the street, another crew was hard at work preparing the NEW Haze Gallery. Saturday night it was the big party at LCC west as we gathered to help raise money for the LCC Foundation Scholarship Fund and Celebrate the school’s 51st Birthday.  Sunday afternoon I was a judge at the High school Battle of the Bands.  The event kept  the Cadillac Club rockin’ all afternoon and into the night. I had the cameras along for all of this. Scroll down for lots more and head for the Photo Album Page for pictures and video.

Coming up this week is "Parallel Lives" from Icarus Falling. I will be in the audience Friday night for that show assuming Jeff Croff saves me a seat. Don't Forget "Escanaba in Love" is still playing at BoarsHead and "Mothers Maidens and Crones" is the big show now at Williamston. Saturday night I will be at Springport Raceway for the action there and Oh Yes. INDIANA JONES is back. Thursday night I filled in for Jack Ebling and we talked about the "Kiltinator" The story is below with a link to Listen. Help the kids if you can. I caught the new show at Williamston and "Annie Get Your Gun" from LCP. Both were good and worth your time next weekend. I also dropped by the Golf Course in Grand Ledge to say Hi to Brandon Gordon who got a new golf cart to enjoy. There was a golf tourney in his honor to help this remarkable young man who in spite of a long list of medical issues, keeps a smile on his face and invited all his friends for a ride, and speaking of rides. I was at Springport Raceway for the first night of racing. The company that owns this web site "Media Matters of Michigan" is the official photography company for the track and since auto racing is entertaining, click here for some photos. Check out the coming attractions below to see what is coming up this weekend, and drop by Rum Runners friday night after 5 for a special charity event. Monday Shout Outs from Jim (posted:4/21/08)

Happy Monday everyone.
I was out and about this weekend. I enjoyed watching the students from LCC & MSU. There was dancing downtown at Dart and a marathon at MSU. Check out the stories, pictures and video below. Saturday night, I traveled to Jackson to see the Symphony in that fine city perform songs from Kismet with the Jackson Chorale. Thanks to Joan and the JSO for the invitation. I will see you again there soon

Sadly, most of what I saw this weekend like the LCC show, The JSO and the Dresser were only playing this weekend. What a shame. Once again I encourage all the groups to play their shows at least two weekends so all can enjoy.  Sunsets with Shakespeare knows that and has  summer play coming up that will run 3 weekends in August.  www.MIentertainment.biz got  the name of the play ahead of everyone else. Check below for the announcement .
Someone asked me why the Monday Shout Outs are not in the archives. The answer was IDUNNO, so now they are.
And...
Get ready for some great plays and shows this week, I will be in the audience for "Funny Ladies" at Cadillac Club, "Leading Ladies" at Starlight, Belles" at Rhuala "Stuff Happens" from Peppermint Creek, a I may check out the Wild Animals at Riverwalk and I will be trying out the new games at the Parkwood YMCA saturday morning. The big list 'o fun is in the Coming Attractions below.

Monday Shout Outs from Jim (posted:4/14/08)

Happy Monday everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I saw "Babes in Arms" at the Passant Theater. The students from MSU did a great job. My review is below. I was back at Wharton Friday night for the Lansing Symphony Orchestra's Piano Pops Concert. This was great! Piano Man Rich Ridenour played the ivories in this light hearted evening that made us all want to clap our hands and tap our toes. Great songs from Leroy Anderson started it off. (Who was that man at the Typewriter?) Rich wowed us with Billy Joel's "Rootbeer Rag" and I just loved "Brazil" It was hard to figure out who was having the most fun, Guest Conductor Stuart Chafetz, The Orchestra, Mr. R or the audience. Speaking of Orchestras, I plan to catch the Jackson Symphony next weekend. (Details below) Have a great week everyone
And...
Get ready for some great plays and show this week, I will be in the audience for " Avenue Q" at Wharton, and "The Dresser" at Riverwalk. If you see me say "hi" and don't forget about the benefit concert at the Williamston Theater and the Fundraiser to help the talented kids from ELHA get to Scotland. Details for all this fun are in the Coming Attractions below.
